Department of Refractive Surgery

See the world with a new eye. It's worth a try.

Good results are achieved with adequate information. If you ask questions, evaluate your physicians, research the market and do the work you’re doing now, you will have far better results.

The doctor's aim is not to show more operations, but to inform candidate patients and advise them as to whether they are good candidates, by informing them about the expected result and the possible risks.
It is also important that the doctor acknowledges your individuality. He or she will judge every person's case differently during the evaluation procedure for refractive surgery.

You must respect the limitations of refractive surgery. Not all people are the right candidate for the operation and some find it difficult to accept this. It is more important to know who is not a candidate for the operation.

Keeping your expectations and your ideas under control is key to a successful refractive surgery operation. Whether or not you will be satisfied will depend on whether your expectations were materialized to the required or to a greater extent.

As far as the cost is concerned, this depends on the center and the surgeon. The cost is not prohibitive. If a minor adjustment needs to be made, the center will not charge you for a second time, it will be made entirely free of charge. You need to look at this operation of yours as a lifetime investment, since the result will not change with time. Think of how much money you spend every year for contact lenses and their fluids or for a good pair or corrective glasses which you will need to replace because their lenses are worn or their design is no longer in style.

To conclude, we might say that we are at last in a position to throw away our glasses and contact lenses should we wish to do so. Before we proceed with any steps, we must however consult an ophthalmology surgeon, particularly one who is experienced in such procedures, our experienced optician or visit a special ophthalmology center that offers refractive surgery.
