Diagnostic Department - Laser Unit

Green (532 nm) laser (Novus Verdi, Diode-pumped green photocoagulator, LUMENIS) to perform photocoagulation in diabetic retinopathy, choroidal neovascular membranes, ischemic retinopathies, photocoagulation of retinal tears. Possible application with the slit lamp and the indirect ophthalmoscope.

Infrared laser, IRIDEX/ IRIS Medical) to perform photocoagulation when indicated, as well as the green laser with additional possibilities of application of the Transpupillary Thermotherapy (TTT), with the use of a large spot adapter, on submacular choroidal neovascular membranes and small choroidal melanomas, intradural cyclophotocoagulation with the use of G-probe on a refractory glaucoma, even if the refractive means are not clear and intradural photocoagulation of the retina for tears, holes and cases of detachment with the use of the special DioPexyTM Probe.

Laser 690 nm (VISULAS 690, ZEISS) for photodynamic therapy with Verteporfin (Visudyne). This "cold" laser is indicated for some forms of subretinal neovascularization due to the age-connected and myopic degeneration of the macula, but can be applied in some neovascular membranes which complicate other conditions of the retina.

In the diagnostic-medical department small-scale operations can be performed, such as intravitreous steroid and anti-VEGF injection, injection of antibiotics and antiviral agents, as well as the use of gas for the removal of submacular haemorrhages and pneumatic retinopexy on selected retina detachment cases.
