A few words about the surgery

In some cases, a child's problem will need to be treated surgically. This operation will be performed by Dr. Gerasimos Rallatos. In these cases, he will give you all the necessary information.

In general however, operations are carried out in special pediatric hospitals with highly specialized staff. Usually these are 1-day operations where the child needs to stay in hospital for 4 - 6 hours. The child is escorted by both parents and we make sure that, during the waiting period in the hospital, you are never left alone and the hospital staff informs you of the operation's progress constantly. It is understandable that when your child is operated on, you will feel tense and anxious. We strive to make this difficult moment as easy as possible. Dr. Gerasimos Rallatos will be at your disposal 24 hours a day to answer any of your questions.

With the exception of some interventions, such as falls, cataract, glaucoma which needs to be examined the next day, usually the child is examined 2 - 3 weeks after the operation.
